FSFX Packages’ Q400 Immersion package is the 5th complete effects package, this time designed to suit the Majestic Software Dash 8 Q400. It mimics to perfection most, if not all of the Q400 visual effects you can expect to see on the Dash 8. Furthermore, all of the effects are based on meteorological conditions. This means that effects will only be displayed in conditions that are fit for the suited effect. Q400 Immersion is also compatible with both versions (basic and pro) of the Majestic Software’s Dash 8 Q400.

Performance at first

Performance is our top priority. For this reason, we optimize each and every single effect to match the specifications of your system. We make sure that our product looks good whether on a low-end or an high-end computer. Furthermore, in an attempt to suit your needs and preferences, we included the possibility for users to reduce the size of the effects without jeopardizing quality or realism.

Touchdown

You might ponder for a moment the importance of recreating touchdown effects for an aircraft as small as the Dash 8. Surprisingly however, the touchdown effects for the Q400 are not only essential but a valuable part of our Immersion package. It’s all about the small details that bring about the sense of realism in-sim.

Volumetric lighting

The Q400 is known for its operation in Northern latitudes where weather doesn’t seem to want to cooperate with pilots! For that reason, volumetric lighting is more impressive and realistic than ever with Q400 Immersion. It will most certainly change the way you fly and make your approaches a heck of a sweaty challenge!

Propeller Vortices (Experimental)

Propeller vortices is hands down the most impressive effect we have designed for the Majestic Q400! Propeller vortices is without a doubt, yet another breathtaking breakthrough in the world of flight simulation, signed FSFX Packages. Looking at the effect in action, you will truly grasp the power and torque of the propellers!

Contrails

Contrails can be quite rare to find on a Q400 given its low service ceiling. However, we made sure the Q400 had its own set of realistic contrails which we believe, will add to the realism of our package!

+ many other effects

As per FSFX Packages’ standards, Q400 Immersion comes equipped with a list of “goodies” and effects that you expect from us. Such effects include: much-needed cold-start smoke effects, impressive volumetric rain, lateral blast on rotation, realistic wheels spray and engine wash.

New install process

Our new home-made control panel, VFXCentral, now renders the installation process much easier and enjoyable. It also allows to customize your installation of Q400 Immersion along the way. Furthermore, updates will be provided through the control panel and will include all your FSFX Packages under one roof.

Works for you

Q400 Immersion is compatible with all popular texture enhancement add-ons and weather engines available for Microsoft Flight Simulator X and Lockheed Martin Prepar3D.

We also made changes to the way we generate our effects. They are now compatible out of the box with FSX's DirectX 10 Preview mode without conversion needed.

Ready for capture

Our goal with this product is to extract the beauty of the weather interacting with the aircraft and bring those effects to flight simmers. While doing so, we optimized every effects to make the job easier for virtual photographs and video producers. Visual effects can be displayed in a slow motion environment without spreading apart like they usually do with default effects, making it ideal for today's Flight Sim recording techniques.

Limitations

Please read the following limitations and known bugs before buying the product.

  • Effects will not show if the aircraft is loaded from a Saved Flight.

Effects may not function properly if the aircraft is loaded from a Saved Flight. Make sure you start a new flight with the Majestic Q400 to see the effects as intended.

  • Effects will not show if all engines are shutdown.

The technique used to display effects around the aircraft depends on the airplane’s smoke system which does not work when all engines are off. This is a Simulator limitation.

  • Effects are not visible during instant replay.

Flight Simulator X and Prepar3D’s replay system is very limited and does not allow the replay of advanced effects systems. A great solution in Flight Simulator X is to use FSRecorder with the smoke replay option turned off.

  • Effects physics might be wrong in some situations.

The Majestic Software Q400 uses a custom, external flight model. Some effects may show incorrectly during takeoff after rotation. For this reason, we labeled the propeller vortices effect as experimental.
